It's hard to find a protein smoothie that doesn't taste…well…protein-y. My Super Strawberry Protein Smoothie is an exception. It's a fruity, fiber-filled nutritious blend of a few simple ingredients.
I opted to use a plain hemp powder, which is a good option if you want to create a less-chalky protein smoothie that's void of any grassy flavor. In fact, my six-year-old daughter, who is the biggest food critic in our house, couldn't taste the protein powder at all.
Another ingredient that gives this smoothie a boost is chia seed. I only added one tablespoon, which is enough to give this smoothie a thick, smoothie-like texture. It also adds a dose of omega-3 fatty acids, more protein and antioxidants. Not bad!
All in all, this smoothie weighs in at 248 calories with 14 grams of protein and 15 grams of fiber! This is a perfect meal after a hard workout, the time when your muscles are most sponge-like for protein. The fiber is a bonus, and will help keep you fuller longer.
