A recent study published in the most recent American Journal of Preventive Medicine suggests that obese individuals can lose weight by following weight loss programs and eating less fat. A not-so-surprising result also showed that participants really didn't lose any significant amount of weight using weight loss, fad diets, liquids or diet foods.

Of the 4000+ people surveyed in this study, all had a body mass index (BMI) of 30 of more within the 12 months prior to the interview. The reported reasons for their weight loss included :

  • Exercise: So important for many reasons, particularly weight management, cardiovascular health, muscle tone and general well-being

The Takeaway
A structured program, healthy eating and exercise actually work well!  Sounds boring, I know. A lot of us need to lose weight, but only a certain percentage want to...really. If you're at the stage where you're motivated enough to lose weight, regardless of what the reason is, exercise, find a simple weight loss program and eat healthy.

Next month, I'll be kicking off a great program that will get real results in 40 days. If your interest in piqued, start thinking of a goal. It doesn't need to be weight loss. Maybe your goal is to run faster, get stronger or just get healthy. The program encompasses diet and exercise. Get ready! Not on my Facebook page yet? Join me as a lot of info will be conveyed there.
