I love feeling great. Who doesn’t? But I certainly have days, just like everyone else, when my body is just a little off or just plain blah. A lack of sleep, or something I ate/drank that didn’t sit right are usually the two most common culprits.

Truth be told, you can’t really detox your body in just a day, but you can reset it a bit. Sugar cravings or out-of-control hunger become much more tame, a bloated belly can straighten itself out, sinking energy perks back up, and most important, momentum built keeps you going!

Keep in mind, this isn’t a fast…so you’ll eat. It’s fairly high in fiber and plenty of ingredients that flush toxins out of your body in short order.

Lemon Juice
For this particular routine, I use lemon juice. If you’re familiar with my 3-Day Cleanse in The Belly Burn Plan (which is also incredibly effective and really boosts fat metabolism), you know that I use apple cider vinegar (ACV). Both are good and have redeeming qualities. If you’d prefer to use ACV, go for it.

Why lemon juice?
Lemon juice (or ACV) alkalizes blood (the opposite of acidity), improves digestion and gives our liver a hand getting rid of toxins.

Tarragon & Ginger
I make pretty good use of fresh tarragon and ginger. All you need to pick up from the store is about 15 sprigs of tarragon (usually found in the produce aisle, pre-packages with other fresh herbs) and a couple inches of fresh ginger, also found in the produce aisle.

Why tarragon & ginger?
Both tarragon and ginger do are known to increase circulation, effectively remove toxins and reduce inflammation.

Protein Powder
I’ve been leaning on vegetable-based protein powders lately. Personally, I just feel better when I use them (in comparison to whey-based protein powders). Any high quality protein powder will do, but I strongly suggest that you stay away from soy-based protein powders.

The plant-based protein powders I’ve tried, trust and enjoy include:

  • Vega All-In-One
  • Orgain
  • Isagenix
  • Arbonne

Note: Most high quality protein powders are expensive. Until you know you like one particular brand, buy a single serving packet. Both Vega and Orgain are sold in retail grocers. Isagenix and Arbonne are both sold via membership subscription.

Early AM (between 5:30 – 6:30am)

  • 12 ounces of room temperature water with 1 ounce of lemon juice
  • 1 cup of tarragon ginger tea (warm or room temp) (recipe below)

Mid Morning Breakfast (between 9:30 – 10:30am)

  • 12 ounces of room temperature water
  • 1 cup tarragon ginger tea
  • Avocado protein smoothie (recipe below)

Afternoon Snack #1 (between 12:30 – 1:30pm)

  • 2 cups tarragon ginger tea
  • Carrots & hummus

Afternoon Snack #2 (between 3:00 – 5:00pm)

  • 2 cups tarragon ginger tea
  • Sliced apple + 1 tbsp almond butter

Dinner (between 6:00 – 7:00pm)

  • 1 cup room temperature water with 1 ounce of lemon
  • Veggie chili with mixed green salad and Cleanse Dressing (recipes below)

Pre-Bedtime (9:00pm)

  • 2 cups tarragon ginger tea

Avocado Protein Smoothie
Serves 1

1 ½ cups water
½ avocado
1 cup fresh or frozen berries
1 serving protein powder (see recommendations)

Combine all ingredients together. Enjoy immediately.


Veggie Chili
Serves 6

1  1/2 tbsp coconut oil (you can use butter or olive oil if you’d like)
2 14.5 oz can tomato puree
2 carrots, chopped (if small, use three)
1 medium yellow onion. chopped
1 1/2 c. mushrooms, chopped
1 green zucchini, chopped
1 yellow pepper, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced

Chili Powder
2 Tablespoons paprika
1 teaspoons oregano
1 tsp curry powder (optional)
1 ½ teaspoons cumin
1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
¾ teaspoon turmeric powder
¾ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Note: This chili powder is only enough for one recipe. I highly recommend making more, storing it in a mason jar and using again and again. It stores well for up to six months.

  • Melt coconut oil in stockpot.
  • Add onion and sauté until translucent.
  • Add garlic and sauté for another two minutes.
  • Add tomatoes, remaining vegetables and chili seasoning to crockpot. Stir all ingredients together, bring to a simmer for about 30 minutes, or until vegetables are cooked. Enjoy.


Cleanse Dressing
Serves 8

This is the base dressing for the 3 Day Cleanse in The Belly Burn Plan. I incorporate this dressing liberally on my salads.

½ cup apple cider vinegar
¼ cup honey
¼ cup olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
4 cloves garlic, minced
Dash of salt and pepper

  • Whisk all of the ingredients together in a medium bowl. Store and refrigerate in a sealed container for up to three months.
